Independent Study
There are times when a student must miss school because of family obligations, educational travel opportunities and quarantining for illnesses. On these occasions, teachers can provide an Independent Study (I.S.) packet to guide learning and study while the student is absent. We encourage families to schedule trips during school vacations so that the child will not miss important lessons and shared experiences with their class. When absence is unavoidable there is Independent Study, which supports both your child and our school. We can offer up to 14 days per school year.
Please provide 3 or more school days of advance notice to the office and your teacher to allow time to prepare your child’s Independent Study packet.
Same day requests will only be honored if submitted before the start of school (prior to 8:15 am). Same day requests are for emergency use only.
A separate I.S. Agreement form is needed for each series of occurrences that are not consecutive dates. For example, Feb 6-9 and Feb 15 would need two I.S. Agreement forms.
