About Our FundingLive Oak is a public Waldorf charter school, funded in part by state, federal, and local funds. LOCS is grateful for the resources provided by public agencies, however, the $6,300 per student funds fall short of the cost to maintain the amazing interdisciplinary liberal arts program that integrates art, music and movement into core academic instruction. Live Oak’s current expenses are more than $7,500 per student. We make up a $1,200 per student gap through the generosity and commitment of the Live Oak community; in particular through our Pledge Program and community fundraising efforts conducted by The Foundation. Live Oak relies upon its community of families and supporters to maintain its vibrant school culture and commitment to Waldorf pedagogy through community giving, grants, and capital campaigns.

Though state funded schools have suffered deep cuts in recent years, Live Oak has been able to maintain its programs because our families are so committed to assuring their child’s receives the best education possible. The Live Oak community has organized volunteer and financial support to fill the pieces missing from state funding. It is through this community effort that Live Oak Charter continues to provide a rich Waldorf-inspired program.
All of Us Together Make the Difference
Our school’s success requires the participation of all families. By pooling our resources and efforts, we are able to fulfill the promise of providing the best childhood, the richest education, and healthiest community possible. Whether you can give $50 or $5000, your gift supports the School.
Our goal is 100% participation, with all families voluntarily contributing to their own ability. By collectively sharing the responsibility for sustaining our School, we create a gift that is more powerful than dollars alone. This spirit raises our gratitude for each other, and honors our children by creating a community built on cooperation and commitment to our collective vision.
In addition, many outside funding resources such as grant foundations look to the percentage of families pledging as an indication of the viability of the School. Your voluntary pledge at any level, whatever the amount, is a strong indicator of our community commitment to our school and its programs.
