Harvest Festival: This festival honors the harvest and the beginning of the new school year. It is held at Walnut Park in downtown Petaluma, is co-sponsored with the Petaluma Farmers' market and is open to the general public. Traditionally, there are games, crafts, food and music to enjoy. Come in a costume to celebrate Halloween and the Day of the Dead. This is a wonderful chance to play as a community.
Lantern Walk: By early November the outer light has diminished in the tide of increasing darkness. Where does the light go? Life in the Live Oak Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classes helps children answer this question through storytelling and lantern making that culminates in the annual Lantern Walk.
Winter Spiral: This beautiful event, for students in Kindergarten to Third Grade, quietly embraces song and candlelight. The children participate in walking with their candles through a spiral of winter greens and golden stars that symbolizes how many cultures mark the winter solstice.
Auction: Sponsored by Friends of Live Oak in the month of March, the auction is our largest fundraising event. It is an evening of music and food and "Treasurers from the Heart." We have both a silent and live auction of many fantastic treasures. This is not to be missed. Get your babysitters early.
May Faire: A lovely tribute, this festival embraces the upwelling vitality of spring. Be prepared to enjoy class performances, picnics, Maypole dancing, family portraits and good company. At this festival, we also honor the elders in our community and all grandparents are welcomed. The May Faire ends with a bounty of strawberry shortcake for all.
End-of-Year Open House & BBQ: The last major community event of the year. Since the classrooms are open, students have the opportunity to show their portfolios to friends and family to see much of what has been accomplished during the year. This event is also an opportunity for current and incoming families to meet and mingle.
